Jameson Distillery Dublin
The Jameson Distillery is probably the most famous Irish whiskey distillery. Founded in 1780, it was originally known as the Bow Street Distillery. John Jameson, a Scottish immigrant, took over the distillery in 1805 and expanded it significantly.
The distillery operated for nearly two centuries, producing some of the world’s most popular Irish whiskey. However, due to changing economic conditions and competition, it closed in 1971.
Today, the original distillery building on Bow Street has been transformed into a popular tourist attraction. Whilst Whiskey is no longer made at this location, visitors can learn about the history of Irish whiskey production, see how whiskey was traditionally made, and even enjoy a tasting. The distillery also features a museum, a gift shop, and a bar.
The Jameson brand itself continues to thrive, with production now taking place at the New Midleton Distillery in County Cork. Jameson Irish Whiskey is one of the best-selling Irish whiskeys globally, known for its smooth and balanced flavour.
If you’d like to visit the Jamieson production distillery, this is located at Midleton Distillery, County Cork.
