Through Scottish Charity ‘Trees for Life’ we are supporting the rewilding of the Great Caledonian Forrest that once covered Scotland. We also prioritise experiences that benefit both our guests and our destinations, such as supporting local businesses and conservation efforts. By offsetting emissions and offering eco-friendly transportation, we help you have an enriching adventure while reducing our footprint.

Experienced Tours is proud to support Trees for Life. When you choose to book a tour with us, we’ll make a donation to support their invaluable work. Trees for Life strives to re-wild the Scottish Highlands, creating a thriving environment for both wildlife and people through conservation.

Reforestation

They plant native trees to regenerate the Caledonian Forest, working to restore natural woodland ecosystems.

Wildlife Restoration

They work to reintroduce native species, such as red squirrels, and support the return of other wildlife. They are involved in studies regarding the possible reintroduction of the Eurasian lynx.

Habitat Restoration

Their efforts extend beyond tree planting to include the restoration of other vital habitats, such as peatlands.

Community Engagement

They actively involve local communities in their work, recognising the importance of community support for successful rewilding.

Education and Awareness

They operate the Dundreggan Rewilding Centre, providing educational opportunities and promoting awareness of rewilding.

Landscape scale restoration

They are involved in large scale projects such as the Affric Highlands project, which aims to restore a very large area of the Scottish highlands.

Our actions

In addition to our support of re-wilding, Experienced Tours is committed to minimising our impact on the environment and local communities where we tour. As an accredited tour operator, we have taken measures to be a responsible member of the travel community in Scotland. Here are some of the things we’ve done to achieve this…

Environmentally friendly vehicles

Our tour vans are Mercedes BlueTec enabled, with start / stop, eco mode and low-resistance tyres. We also use Adblue to reduce emissions

Community give-back

We take part in community initiatives in Edinburgh to clear up the environment and help urban wildlife

We recycle all disposables

We supply and recycle water bottles, glass and food packaging on every tour

LEZ compatible

Our vehicles comply with Low Emission Zones (LEZ) in all cities that have them (Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee and Aberdeen)

Small vehicles - small impact

Our Mercedes minivans are classed as small vehicles, offering low noise and low-impact, making them an efficient way to travel

Your actions

We encourage our guests to be responsible travellers and recommend the following guidance to enrich your experience whilst leaving no trace.

Never touch

Please avoid touching historic sights, such as standing stones, statues and landscapes

Stick to the path

Avoid stepping off paths into nature, enjoy the view and leave no trace.

Dispose of litter

Never discard of litter, gum or cigarette butts, using litter bins or taking litter home

Don't feed nature

Avoid feeding nature including birds and deer. Not only does it reduce their ability to feed themselves, they become reliant on humans

Travel during the shoulder season

Avoid peak tourist times to help reduce congestion and strain on local services, whilst enriching your experience.

Scotland is open to all, but please adhere to the Scottish Outdoor Access Code
