The Staffin Dinosaur Museum on the Isle of Skye was established by Dr. Douglas ‘Dugie’ Ross when he was only a teenager. Dugie spent his life exploring the island’s rich bounty of fossils and dinosaur prints, curating a fantastic collection which includes some unique finds. It is a small, family-run exhibition which offers an in-depth experience of Skye’s Jurrasic past.

Skye’s coastline is world-famous for its dramatic structure of ancient rock formations, the most famous of which is the Trotternish Ridge – featuring The Old Man of Storr, The Quaraing and numerous other geological marvels. A short drive from the main town of Portree opens a world of possibilities on Skye’s north peninsula which is dominated by this stunning ridge line.

The dinosaur museum sits midway along the ridge and makes for a great stop between some exceptional viewpoints and hikes with a choice of amenities nearby. Especially good for younger ones who have found that first love of dinosaurs!
