Whisky has been produced in Scotland for over 600 years; from humble beginnings in the 15th century, ‘Aqua Vitae’ was first produced by the monks at Lindores Abbey on instruction of King James V. The alchemists’ art was honed by small illegal pot distillers deep in the highlands, practiced through prohibition, famine and plague and endures today as one of Scotland’s most iconic products.
