On the Isle of Islay, Bruichladdich distills single malt Scotch whisky. It is situated in the Rhinns of Islay, the westernmost part of the island, on the shores of Loch Indaal. The distillery was built in 1881 and is one of nine that operate on the island today.

Islay whisky is known for its peaty flavour due to the use of peat in the malting process. However, Bruichladdich also produces unpeated whisky, as well as heavily peated whisky under the Octomore brand. It produces a full-bodied spirit using Victorian equipment, which was previously used by other brands. In 2000, Rémy Cointreau acquired Bruichladdich and decided to bottle it under its own name.

Over 50,000 people visit the distillery each year for tours, tastings, and other events. Music, food, and whisky from around the world are all featured at the Bruichladdich Islay Festival as part of the wider Fèis Ìle event in May each year.
