Clydeside Distillery

The Clydeside Distillery is the first dedicated whisky distillery to be built in Glasgow in over 100 years, and it is playing a leading role in the revival of Glasgow’s whisky industry.

The distillery was founded in 2017 by a team of experienced whisky professionals, including Tim Morrison who came from Dalmore. The distillery is located on the banks of the River Clyde, on the site of a former shipyard build in the original pump house of The Queen’s Dock, one of many dry-docks that used to line the River Clyde in Glasgow and It is no coincidence that Tim is the great-grandson of John Morrison, who built the Queens’ Dock and Pump House. Through the distillery, he also helped restore the building that his great-grandfather built.

This location is significant, as it was once the heart of Glasgow’s industrial and maritime heritage and the rest of The Queen’s Dock was filled into to provide the foundation for the Scottish Event Campus, but many of the Victorian buildings remain.

The Distillery offers a range of tours and tastings, which give visitors the opportunity to learn about the whisky-making process and to sample some of the distillery’s whiskies. The most popular tour is the Clydeside Tour, which includes a guided tour of the distillery and a tasting of three whiskies. The distillery also offers a number of other tours and tastings, including a blending class and a cask tasting.
