Laphroaig Distillery
Laphroaig was founded in 1815 by Donald and Alexander Johnston, and has been in continuous operation ever since. The distillery is owned by Japanese premium spirits brand Beam Suntory, and produces a range of whiskies, including Laphroaig 10 Year Old, Laphroaig Select, and Laphroaig Quarter Cask.
Laphroaig is one of the most popular distilleries in Scotland, and welcomes over 100,000 visitors each year. Laphroaig whisky is made using heavily peated barley, which gives it its distinctive smoky flavour. Interestingly, The distillery has its own peat bogs, which provide the peat used to smoke the barley. The whisky is also aged in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, which adds complexity to its flavor profile.
Laphroaig whisky is matured in warehouses at sea level, located on the shores of Loch Laphroaig . Legend has it that this gives their whisky a unique character, influenced by the sea.
Laphroaig whisky is a favorite among whisky enthusiasts, and is known for its bold and assertive flavor. It is often enjoyed neat or on the rocks, but can also be used in cocktails.
